Karen's career began as a teacher (B.Ed., 1990), where her passion for helping others grow first took root. When her children were at Laurelwood PS, she volunteered as the president of the parent council. Since those early days, she has led in classrooms, community organizations, not-for-profits, and political systems - always with a focus on empowerment and impact.
Karen is a pragmatic leader - she fixes broken systems and builds better organizations. She is not afraid to challenge the status quo. She sees opportunities where others see barriers. Her proven professional and community experience is what is needed at the WRDSB table.
